Małgorzata Szlachta is an Assistant Professor at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. In 2010-2012 she was appointed as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Earth Sciences, Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Most recently, she spent two months as a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. Her research focuses on environmental engineering with a particular emphasis on application of adsorption and ion exchange techniques for water and wastewater treatment. She has received several awards and scholarships (national and EU) including the scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists from the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education (2013-2016). She coordinated several research projects, national and international, in the area of drinking water, industrial water and wastewater treatment.
She is a (co)author over 50 scientific and technical publications and reports and one book. She presented her work at a number of international conferences. She is a member of Editorial Board of two international journals, member of program and organizing committees of over ten international conferences. She is also a peer-reviewer in Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis, Wiley, IWA, PWR journals, reviewer in IWA conferences including Cities of Future and YWP conferences, World Water Congresses and Development Congresses. Her academic activities include also lecturing on water and wastewater treatment subjects and water chemistry (courses delivered for Polish and international students). She supervised several MSc/BSc students and is co-supervisor of PhD student from University of Malaya.
